Session 1: Emergency Response Team Roles, Responsibilities & Preparedness
- Understand the role of the Emergency Response Team in workplace emergency preparedness.
- Identify the responsibilities of Fire Wardens during emergency situations.
- Understand the responsibilities of Floor Marshals and First Aid Responders.
- Recognize different types of workplace emergencies, including fire, medical and natural disaster situations.
- Recognize chemical leaks, electrical incidents and bomb threat situations.
- Understand emergency communication protocols, incident reporting hierarchy, Emergency Action Plans and Business Continuity basics.
Session 2: Fire Safety & Fire Prevention
- Understand the Fire Triangle and Fire Tetrahedron.
- Identify different classifications of fires, including Class A, B, C, D, electrical and cooking oil fires.
- Recognize common workplace fire hazards and ignition sources.
- Apply fire prevention practices and workplace housekeeping measures.
- Understand types of portable fire extinguishers, including water, foam, dry chemical powder, CO₂ and wet chemical extinguishers.
- Select the correct extinguisher for different fire situations.
Session 3: Fire Emergency Response & Evacuation Management
- Understand fire alarm systems and emergency alerts.
- Apply the PASS technique for operating fire extinguishers.
- Understand fire containment principles and when not to fight a fire.
- Follow safe evacuation procedures and emergency exit planning.
- Understand Floor Warden responsibilities during evacuation.
- Manage assembly points, accountability and coordination with emergency services.
Session 4: Basic Life Support, CPR & Medical Emergency Response
- Understand the principles of Basic Life Support.
- Apply scene safety using the DRABC approach.
- Understand adult CPR techniques and current best practices.
- Build awareness of Automated External Defibrillator usage.
- Respond to choking emergencies using the Adult Heimlich Manoeuvre.
- Apply the recovery position and manage unconscious casualties.
Session 5: Workplace First Aid & Injury Management
- Manage external bleeding and apply wound dressing.
- Understand fractures, sprains and immobilization techniques.
- Respond to thermal, chemical and electrical burns.
- Recognize and respond to shock.
- Handle common workplace medical emergencies, including heart attack, stroke, seizures, asthma and allergic reactions.
- Understand workplace First Aid Kit contents, documentation and legal considerations.
